What is Pennies Trifecta LLC?

Pennies Trifecta is a new kind of auction experience that combines the best of online shopping with entertainment.  Experience the thrill of participating in live auctions while trying to score real bargains.  Unlike some auctions sites, Pennies Trifecta auctions feature:

·          Your choice of Gift Cards or Gift Certificates

·          “Three Winners” for every gift card auction

·          Monthly rebates up to 20% for every bid you use

·          “Buy It Now” option for all auctions for bid packs (this option not available for gift cards)

Bidding starts at just $0.01 and bids cost only $0.77 each, so you can walk away a winner with only a small investment.

Because of our unique combination of Three Winners and Monthly Rebates it is possible for our customers to experiance a 79% increase in purchasing power (compared to averages of 20 top competitors).  For the same $50.00 spent with the average of these competitors and used to win $650.00 in merchandice, Pennies Trifecta LLC awards $1,150.00 in gift cards.  Considering the fact that most of our gift card suppliers offer an additional 10% to 20% in discounts or rebates on their site, that $1,150.00 can easily grow to $1,350.00 in merchanise.  For you our customer that means TWICE the buying power.

With each new bid placed on an auction at Pennies Trifecta, the auction price will increase by $0.01 (one penny).  When there are less than two minutes remaining on the auction clock, any bid placed will increase the clock by 3 to 30 seconds. The reason for the time increase is to give other users a chance to respond and bid again if they wish (similar to the way an auctioneer in a live auction says "going, going, GONE").  An auction ends when there are no further bids and the counter reaches zero.

Why does Pennies Trifecta LLC only sell gift cards?

Our function at Pennies Trifecta LLC is not to be a retailer, but to add value to our customer’s buying power.  We don’t buy closeouts, liquidations or obsolete inventory.  We don’t warehouse merchandise – so personnel, shipping, returned goods, damaged inventory, theft, warehouse management software and most of all “poor communication” are virtually eliminated.

So what does Pennies Trifecta, LLC do with all that extra profit?  Well, first we keep some of it.  We also sleep better at night knowing our customers aren’t wondering where their products are or why they got pink pajamas instead of a barbeque grill.

Next (based on the average cost of bids at competitive sites) we increase our customer’s buying power by up to 79%.  We do this by paying “Three Winners” on every auction and rebating up to 20% of all bids back to the customer.  There is an old axiom “Figures don’t lie, but liars figure”.  If you would like to challenge these figures please send an e-mail to jim@penniestrifecta.com otherwise please enjoy the additional buying power and fun you can have at Pennies Trifecta LLC.

From the perspective of you, our customer, Gift Cards offer several advantages over products such as televisions, coffee pots and 9-Irons.

First, of course, if you want a coffee pot you can go buy one with your gift card and you can be certain it has “Blue Tooth” so your “iPhone™” can start your morning coffee.  You can even throw in a couple of bucks and get that Candy Apple Red one.

Second, you can avoid all the disappointments of incorrect shipments.  It came in smashed.  It was the wrong item.  It came in too late for Uncle Don’s birthday.  Of course, if you take your gift card and buy that purse you always wanted on sale from an Internet retailer, all of the above might still happen, but this time you are in control and we all know how much smoother that works.

Most of our suppliers offer E-Gift Certificates.  Normally, within 48-hours of an approved purchase, the Gift Certificate is E-mailed to your computer.

Did we mention sales?  Most of the Gift Card suppliers we use, not only provide the highest quality merchandise, but they offer incentives (discounts, free merchandise or coupons).  At Pennies Trifecta LLC we pass those incentives along to you our valued customer because we think a free steak or a coupon for an extra 15% discount definitely adds value to your buying power.

The bottom line is simple – Coupons Are Fun – Gift Cards Are Fun – Pennies Trifecta LLC Is Fun.  Please have fun and enjoy your gift cards.

How does a “Three Winner Auction” work?

Every auction has a winner.  Each auction also has one or more unsuccessful bidders.  Thus the traditional concept of an auction is one of “Winner Take All”.

At Pennies Trifecta LLC we have drawn from other competitions such as the Olympics and horse races and included a second and third place winner to our auctions.  Each place is unique, that is to say the first, second and third place winners must be different bidders.  For example if the bidding were as follows:

          Bidder A            $20.24

          Bidder B            $20.23

          Bidder A            $20.22

          Bidder B            $20.21

          Bidder C            $20.20

          Bidder B            $20.19

Bidder A would be the unique first place winner.  Bidder B would be the unique second place winner and despite his or her fifth place finish Bidder C would be the unique third place winner.  From that point, if we assume the auction was for a $200.00 gift card, we reward the successful bidders as follows:

First Place                  $200.00 Gift Card            100.0%

Second Place            $100.00 Gift Card            50.0%

Third Place                   $50.00 Gift Card            25.0%

Based on this example the winners would pay for their gift cards as follows:

First Place                  $20.24            100.0% Of Winning Bid

Second Place            $10.12              50.0% Of Winning Bid

Third Place                   $5.06              25.0% Of Winning Bid

Our “Three Winner” Auction on gift cards brings a new dimension of fun and fair play to the penny auction industry.

How does the rebate program work?

As an incentive to continue doing business with Pennies Trifecta we offer two rebate programs.  Every customer (bidder) will receive a 5% rebate based on the bids he or she spends.  If that same customer joins the “Turf Club” at a cost of $24.00 per year, he or she will receive an additional 15% (20% total) rebate based on the bids he or she spends.

The rebate will be credited to the customers account on the tenth of the month following the month the bids are spent.  For example if a customer spent 160 bids on auctions in June, he or she would receive a credit to their account of 8 bids on July 10th.  If that same customer were a member of the “Turf Club” his or her rebate would be 32 bids.

We appreciate your business and our rebate program is one way we have of showing it.

What is the “Turf Club”?

The “Turf Club” is a vehicle Pennies Trifecta LLC uses to provide additional incentives and financial support to our customer.  The cost is $24.00 per year.  Any customer that spends more than 20 bids per month will profit by joining the “Turf Club”.

New customers automatically receive a free 90-day membership to the “Turf Club”.  If an existing registered customer refers a friend to our site, and the friend is clear who referred him or her, and the friend registers and buys a minimum bid pack, the existing customer gets a months free membership in the “Turf Club”.  Of course, the new customer gets a free 90-day membership in the “Turf Club”

You might ask yourself, a free months membership in the “Turf Club” is $2.00 ($24.00 / 12 months = $2.00) so what is the big deal?  Membership in the “Turf Club” also increases your monthly rebate from 5% to 20%.

If you are a regular member at Pennies Trifecta LLC and you spend 80 bids during one month you will receive 4 (80 x 5% = 4) free bids on the tenth of the following month.  That is a $3.08 (4 x $0.77 = $3.08) value.  If you were a member of the “Turf Club” and you spent the same 80 bids, you would receive 16 (80 x 20% = 16) free bids on the tenth of the following month.  That is a $12.32 (16 x $0.77 = $12.32) value.

“Turf Club” members also receive advance notice of promotions and new services if they wish to sign up for such information.

What is Bid Jockey?

"Bid Jockey" is a computer controlled automatic bidding system.  If a customer suspects they will not be around for the end of an auction or they want to be sure their bids are placed before a particular auction closes, they can use "Bid Jockey".

To activate "Bid Jockey" click the “Details” button at the bottom of the auction box for the active bid you are interested in setting up a "Bid Jockey".

In the "Bid Jockey" area at your left fill in the following:

From $ – (type in the starting price using this format – .43 or 8.00)

Bid Amount – (type in how many bids you want to place using this format – 14)

Bidding Strategy – Decide if you want to “Bid randomly” or “Randomly in last 10 seconds”

     Click the "Activate" button.

If you change your mind before the "Bid Jockey" activates, please open your account and select the "Bid Jockey" tab and stop or remove the "Bid Jockey".

One strategy is to place your "Bid Jockey" at around the average final bid price which is 6% of retail price.  For example the average final bid price for a $100.00 gift card is around $6.00.  You might want to set a "Bid Jockey" From $ (6.00) with a Bid Amount of (10) and a Bidding Strategy of (Randomly in last 10 seconds).  The computer will then place those bids in a manner designed to win the auction.

Caution: If you have won two auctions in 24-hours or 11 auctions in 28-days

When you place a single bid on another auction (that makes you the high bidder on that auction) the computer views that as your third win and temporarily locks you out.

You cannot place a single bid, but you would be trying to overbid yourself so this would only occur if you were over enthusiastically bidding.  You might see one of three error messages – “You have already placed this bid” or “You can’t win more than 3 auctions per day” or “You can’t win more than 12 auctions per 28 days”.

You cannot set a “Bid Jockey” because you are the current high bidder and the computer views that as your third win.  If you try to set a “Bid Jockey” you will get one of two error messages – “You can’t win more than 3 auctions per day” or “You can’t win more than 12 auctions per 28 days”.

Both these conditions are temporary.  If the auction ends, you are the first place winner.  If someone overbids you, you are unlocked and you can place a single bid or set a “Bid Jockey”.  Of course, if the auction is in the last minute, this is all happening very quickly so you may not have enough time to set a “Bid Jockey”.

Additional Caution:

If you do set a “Bid Jockey” when you are at your bid limit you should be aware that:

The “Bid Jockey” will need to be set when you are not the high bidder and the “Bid Jockey” will have to be set $0.01 higher than the current price.

If you placed a $0.02 bid to get the auction started, you will not be able to set a “Bid Jockey” until another bidder bids $0.03.  Let’s say another bidder does bid $0.03 and you decide to set a “Bid Jockey” at $0.04 ($0.01 higher than the current bid) you will be locked out.  The person that bid $0.03 can’t (and wouldn’t want to) bid $0.04.  You are locked out so you can’t bid $0.04.  Unless a third bidder joins in and bids $0.04 the auction will end at $0.03, your “Bid Jockey” will never fire and you will end in second place.

Let’s carry this example a little further.  Once the bidding exceeds $0.04 and your “Bid Jockey” starts working, you will not be able to place a single bid because setting the “Bid Jockey” counted as your third win and locked you out.  You could delete the “Bid Jockey” and bid singles, but again caution is advised.  You can stop a “Bid Jockey” or you can delete it.  If you stop it with the intention to re-activate later, you will not be able to place single bids (because the “Bid Jockey” is still active).  Your only option is to re-activate.  If you delete the “Bid Jockey”, as long as you are not the high bidder, you can place single bids or set a new “Bid Jockey”.

As long as you understand the above you can win a third or twelfth auction, but it requires additional skill.  One strategy is to bid to win only two auctions per 24-hour period or eleven per 28-days.  That way all your options are available.

Please see our How Pennies Trifecta Works section for additional information on this and other valuable bidding strategies.

What is a “Buy It Now” option?

At Pennies Trifecta LLC, we offer our customers the opportunity to buy a bid pack at any time (before the auction ends) and get full credit for the bids they have placed up to that point.  We do not offer this option on gift card auctions.

For example, if you spent 15 bids (15 bids x $0.77 each = $11.55) during an 80-bid pack auction, you would have an option to buy the 80-bid pack (at any time before the auction ends) for the original purchase price (80 x $0.77 = $61.60) less the $11.55 you spent on bids.  Your cost would be $61.60 - $11.55 = $50.05.  There would be no shipping & handling charges; your state government sets the sales and use taxes.

Please remember that, if you exercise your “Buy It Now” option, our Rebate Program does not apply to the 15 bids you spent during the bid process.  All 80 bids will be eligible for that program when they are spent.

What auction types does Pennies Trifecta LLC utilize?

Standard (Penny) Auction:  In a penny auction, with each bid placed the auction price increases by one penny.
Intermediate (Beginner) Auctions:  Beginners only auctions are open exclusively to users who have won fewer than five auctions. These are great auctions to start with, since you will only be competing against other new users to the site.

How much does it cost to participate?

Pennies Trifecta registration is free, however you must purchase bid packs in order to participate in an auction. Bids cost $0.77 each and are available in packs of 40, 80 and 160 bids.  If you win an auction, you will be responsible for paying the final auction price of the gift card, processing fees, and sales & use taxes (if applicable).

How do I calculate my actual costs?

Your actual cost to win a gift card depends on four things – the amount of bids you place, the final auction price of the gift card, processing fees and applicable sales & use taxes.

Pennies Trifecta will pay the top three unique bidders for each gift card auction.  The process will be handled as follows:

For example, if the Auction End Price for a $200.00 gift card is approximately 10% of its face value ($20.24) and the final bids look like this:

          Bidder A                     $20.24

          Bidder B                     $20.23

          Bidder A                     $20.22

          Bidder B                     $20.21

          Bidder C                     $20.20

          Bidder B                     $20.19

The gift card values and charges would be as follows:

     Final Unique Bids

          Gift Card Value

          Customer Pays

          Bidder A

             $20.24

                $200.00

           $20.24 Plus Bids

          Bidder B

             $20.23

                $100.00

           $10.12 Plus Bids

          Bidder C

             $20.20

                  $50.00

             $5.06 Plus Bids

If you were Bidder B in the example above and you placed 20 bids on the auction (and the bids cost $0.77 each), you would have spent $15.40 on bids. You were the second place bidder on the gift card and the final auction price was $20.24.

As the second place winner you will have the opportunity to purchase a gift card of your choice valued at 1/2 the gift card value.  In this example that gift card would be for $100.00 ($200.00 x 50% = $100.00).

Your cost for the $100.00 gift card would be $10.12 ($20.24 x 50% = $10.12) plus the $15.40 you spent on bids plus $4.00 processing plus any applicable sales & use taxes.

Your state government regulates the sales & use taxes.

For this example you will receive a $100.00 gift card and your cost would be $29.52 ($10.12 + $15.40 + $4.00) plus any applicable sales & use taxes.  That is a discount of 71.6% ($29.52 / $104.00) and you were the second place bidder.  On most other sites you would have received nothing.

How do I purchase bid packs?

You can purchase bid packs using your credit card, debit card or the NOCA payment system.  At this time, we accept Visa (we can’t accept Vanilla Visa Gift Cards) and MasterCard.  Please note that all bid packs are non-refundable.

If you are in good standing and close your account according to our Terms Of Use Agreement, we will send you a gift card for the value of unused bids rounded up to the nearest $1.00.  For example if you had 64-bids remaining in your account we would send you a gift card worth $50.00 (64 x $0.77 = $49.28 rounded up to the nearest $1.00 = $50.00).

How do I bid?

Getting setup to bid and bidding on Pennies Trifecta LLC is easy.

Register for free:  Your contact information will be collected and you will provide a username, password and agree to the Terms of Use Agreement and Privacy Policy.

Purchase bid packs:  Bids cost $0.77 each and are available in packs of 40, 80 and 160 bids.

Select a gift card or bid pack on which you wish to bid:  Find the size gift card or bid pack on which you wish to bid.

Place bids and go for it:  There is only one way to win an auction and that is by bidding.  You have found the size gift card or bid pack you want, you have the bids in your account – so get started.  We advise beginners to focus their bids on one gift card or bid pack at a time rather than spreading their bids around.

Automated bidding:  If you are not sure you will be around for the end of the auction you might want to use Bid Jockey.  If you want Bid Jockey to help you will want to ask him to place at least two bids. Your maximum price has to be at least one USD ($1.00) higher than the current price of the auction on which you want to bid.  Just tell the Bid Jockey the minimum and maximum price at which you want him to place your bids, as well as the number of bids you’re prepared to use and he will do the rest.  It is Always a good idea to give your bid jockey final instructions before you start bidding.

When does an auction end?

An auction ends when people stop bidding and the auction clock reaches zero. Our auctions are completely interest driven; some may go on for hours while others will end after only a few bids.  It often depends on the website traffic.

One note about the auction clocks, when there is less than two minutes remaining on the auction clock any bid placed will increase the clock by 3 to 30 seconds.  This gives other users a chance to respond and bid again if they wish.  If nobody bids by the time the clock reads zero, the auction will end.

Where can I check how many auctions I have won?

Please log in above then click My Account next to your name one of your options will be - Auction I Won.

I just won an auction. What's next?

Well first and most important – Congratulations.

Check out:  Once the auction has ended and you are the winner, you will be directed to our check out process, which is fast and easy.  Just remember to purchase the gift card within 7 days of the end of the auction.  If you still haven't purchased the gift card within 7 days, the gift card will be removed from your cart.  All bids placed towards that gift card are non-refundable.

Pay for the gift card you won:  Purchasing gift cards is easy and follows the same process as purchasing bid packs.  You can use Visa, MasterCard or the NOCA payment system.  We will confirm via e-mail receipt of payments and shipping information.  Please contact us if the gift card has not arrived within 15 business days of our payment confirmation e-mail.

Where can I view auction activity?

By clicking on a gift card that is up for auction, you have the ability to see a list of the ten most recent bids. You can also view your current and past auction purchases in My Account.

Where can I view past auction results?

Just below our live auctions, you can view the results of completed auctions.

What are the differences between auction end price and the retail price?

Retail price:  The retail price is the price you would pay if the gift card were purchased through a traditional retailer.  This might also be considered the list price or face value.
Auction end price:  The auction end price is the price at which the auction ended. The first place winner of the auction can buy the gift card at that price.  The second place winner of the auction can buy a gift card at half that price; of course the gift card will be for half the value of the original auction.  The third place winner of the auction can buy a gift card at a quarter that price; of course the gift card will be for a quarter the value of the original auction.

Do I get my bids back if I do not win an auction?

Any bids placed during an auction are considered "used" and will not be returned to your account, whether you win the auction or not.  This is an inherent feature of our site and is explained in our Terms Of Use Agreement.  This policy allows us to offer gift cards at such low Auction End Prices. The amount of bids we collect during an auction covers the cost of the gift cards.  Please remember, the top three unique bidders win on every gift card auction and the customer has a “Buy It Now” option on bid packs.

We have some more great news.  At Pennies Trifecta LLC, we pay "Monthly Rebates" on all of the bids our customers spend.  On most other sites you would receive nothing.

What about bid syndicates and robot bidding?

It is our goal to make our site fair and honest for all players. Therefore, collusion of any kind is not permitted.  We pay “Three Winners”, offer the same "Monthly Rebates" to all bidders, limit the number of times a bidder can win and keep bid packs small to discourage domination of our site by any bidder.

To further enhance our sites reputation as a place where everyone can win we will have several auctions each day for customers who have won less than five auctions and we will, as usual, pay “Three Winners” on all gift card auctions.

What are the win limits?

We want everyone to enjoy his or her visit to Pennies Trifecta.  In the spirit of fairness, users are allowed a certain number of auction wins before hitting their limit.  Our simple system allows more users to enjoy the site.

In an effort to keep “Power Bidders” from dominating our site we will limit the number of times any customer can win to three (3) per day or twelve (12) per 28-day period.

ALL WINS (1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place or bid pack) count against this total.  If a customer is the first to place a single bid or set a “Bid Jockey” on an auction the computer treats that bid as a win and counts it toward the customer’s win total until another customer places a higher bid.

You can check the remaining number of wins you have available by opening your account and selecting "Winlimit Info".

If you do set a “Bid Jockey” when you are at your bid limit you should be aware that:

How will I know when I have reached my win limit?

A pop-up window notifying you of the limit will appear after your win.  Limits are calculated on a rolling basis, taken from the most recent 24 hours or 28 days of your history.  As older wins drop off, you become eligible to bid again.

Can I get a refund on an item I have won?

Once the gift card is purchased in your name and shipped, no refund is available from the card suppliers.  Please note that all bid pack purchases are non-refundable.  If there are extenuating circumstances please contact us at service@penniestrifecta.com or call us toll free at 866-682-1612.

Can I register more than one account?

It is strictly against Pennies Trifecta LLC policy (please see our Terms Of Use Agreement) to have more than one account.  If you are operating more than one account, your account(s) will be closed.  Any items won by a multiple account holder will be deemed null and void.  If you have more than one user in your household, please contact customer support toll free at 866-682-1612 to assist you in setting up a second account.

What are the processing fees?

The processing charges are currently $4.00 for each gift card.  If we ship several cards at one time to the same address the charge is still $4.00 per gift card.

Obviously, if our supplier sends an E-certificate direct to your computer, there are no direct shipping charges, but most of those suppliers charge a handling fee.

We have a simple system for determining the charges our customer is billed for processing.  Every three months we divide our total shipping & handling charges by the total number of gift cards and gift certificates shipped.  The resulting number is rounded up to the next highest quarter and that becomes the processing fee for the next quarter.

The processing fees are attached to the gift card or gift certificate by the computer, so errors are virtually eliminated.

Our standard processing free covers delivery within the continental United States / Alaska / Hawaii / Puerto Rico .

There will be additional processing charges for Canada Customers.  Canadian processing charges will be $9.00 in U.S. Dollars, and will not include sales tax (GST and PST, or HST) and tariffs if applicable.  The customer will be responsible for all such taxes and tariffs.

Do you ship internationally?

At this time, we do not ship outside of the continental United States / Alaska / Hawaii / Puerto Rico and Canada.

When can I expect delivery?

We will notify you via e-mail as soon as your item has been shipped.  All auction wins should arrive within 15 business days of checkout (20 business days for Canada).  If you have not received your item within the allotted time, please contact us at service@penniestrifecta.com or call us toll free at 866-682-1612.

If we are aware of a delivery problem, we will contact you when we have an estimated shipping date.

My credit card was charged but I did not receive the bid pack or gift card.

This problem can occur for various reasons.

Most credit card companies will place a pre-authorization hold on your card when you make a purchase.  If you attempted to make a purchase and cancelled the purchase, or if you got an error message, you may see a pending charge on your credit card, but you probably didn’t get a confirmation from Pennies Trifecta LLC and the charge will drop in a few days.

You might have experienced an error at checkout but are unsure why.

If you experience any problem with your credit card, you are welcome to contact the issuer of your credit card, but we would prefer you call us toll free at 866-682-1612.  That way we will be sure you will be satisfied with the resolution.

Important: Please do not ship the gift card back to us without first contacting us - this will only delay the time it takes to replace your card.
